Have your own opinions. If you’re a liberal, don’t just parrot National Public Radio. If you’re a conservative, stop watching Fox News and learn to think for yourself. Nobody wants to listen to another talking head spitting out the same stuff we’re hearing from guys like Glenn Beck and Michael Moore. People want a new take on the story, they want new, fresh thoughts and opinions. Think for yourself or there’s no reason people would read your blog over the big names in the media.

The best, most effective way to get more readers is to go out there and collect them one at a time. Leave a lot of comments on other blogs, friend a lot of other bloggers. Spread your blog out onto every blog site out there for a wider audience. Reply to all the comments people leave for you. It’s all about being an active member of the blogging community, not simply setting up shop and wondering where everybody’s at.
